Azerbaijan sends humanitarian aid to Afganistan


Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. Azerbaijan has sent humanitarian aid to the victims of the natural disaster in Afganistan.

122 tonnes of humanitarian aid was sent from Haydar Aliyev International Airport on May 04 under the instruction of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, APA reports.

The commander of civil defense forces, Major General Ilham Abdullayev said that the humanitarian aid consists of food products such as vegetable oil, macaroni foods, sugar, rice as well as blankets, clothes, and other necessary products.

The humanitarian aid with the total value of AZN 211.500 will be delivered to Kabul in the afternoon on May 04.
The aid will be handed over to the local authorities by the employees of the Azerbaijani Embassy.

Note that more than 2000 people died, many people were injured and became displaced as a result of the floods in Afganistan’s Badakhshan province on May 02.
