Police investigate heroin overdose at Destiny USA

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse police responded to a call regarding a heroin overdose in a Destiny USA parking lot Saturday evening.
The victim, a 20-year old female, reportedly used heroin in the parking lot and had a bad reaction which caused her to stop breathing. Police arrived around 4:45 p.m.
A friend of the victim had screamed for help. A passerby had performed CPR on the victim, police said.
Paramedics from Rural Metro paramedics used the drug Narcan, which counteracted the effects of the heroin. The victim resumed breathing and consciousness.
The victim later admitted she bought and used heroin. The case remains under investigation.
