PESHAWAR: A son of Saleh Shah, a senator from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), was shot dead on Wana road in Tank district on Thursday, official sources said.
Shamsul Islam was on his way to the South Waziristan tribal region when he was attacked, sources said.
Security forces rushed to the spot and shifted the body to a hospital in Wana.
He was a son of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam – Fazl (JUI-F) leader and Fata senator Saleh Shah.
Family sources and political administration have not yet confirmed the killing but intelligence and local sources said Shamsul Islam was killed during firing.
Jamrud hospital doctor kidnapped
The field medical officer of Jamrud Headquarters Hospital was reportedly kidnapped from the Jamrud tehsil of the Khyber tribal region.
Official sources said Dr Shaukat Afridi was kidnapped while he was on his way to the hospital.
Assistant political agent Roshan Mehsud confirmed that the doctor had gone missing and had not reported to duty.
Political agent Shahab Ali Shah and other political administration officials reached the hospital where Dr Afridi worked and directed law enforcement agencies to recover the doctor.
